Diversity in Tech Awards 2020 #DITA20 accepts nominations in 18 categories until September 29th

Previously known as the Women in Tech awards, the Diversity in Tech Awards in association with Microsoft for Startups, taking place virtually on November 10th 2020, will shine a spotlight on the achievements of organisations creating a more diverse workplace while striving to narrow the gender gap in the technology sector.

The event, which celebrates the best in tech, has been expanded to recognise diversity in all of its forms. It will include 18 categories with an equal number for both diversity and women in tech. In recognising the broad efforts of promoting diversity in the workplace, the awards have been split into two category areas.

The Diversity in Tech categories have increased from three to nine categories this year. They include awards for role models in tech, LGBTQ+ inclusion, social mobility, disability inclusion, cultural inclusion, generational inclusion and health and wellness.

The Women in Tech categories include a focus on tech leadership, entrepreneurship, digital transformation, mentorship and data science. There will also be a special recognition award for women who have their mark in innovation, which is named after pioneering US computer scientist Grace Hopper. Hopper who was one of the first programmers to work on the Harvard Mark 1, the world’s first electromechanical computer.

Furkan Karayel, the founder of Diversein who is the winner of Trailblazer award in 2018 joins to this year's judging panel along with Dr. Bijna Dasani, International Award Winning Strategy & FS Executive, Gary Steward, CEO and Co-Founder at The Nest, Mary Connaughton, Fello CPID, Georaid Kearney, CEO of MyAccessHub and Melissa Bosh, Diversity and Inclusion, Corporate Responsibility Lead at Ernst & Young
