Techstars Startup Week Dublin powered by Dublin City Council is a celebration of entrepreneurs, innovation and community in Dublin this 19th - 23rd November 2018.

Entrepreneurs, startups, community facilitators and those in pursuit of starting their own businesses are invited to join Techstars’ Startup Week Dublin, powered by Dublin City Council, from the 19th - 23rd of November.

Mary Mac Sweeney, Deputy Head of Economic Development and Enterprise with Dublin City Council said, “Dublin City Council is excited to be supporting the first Startup Week Dublin, showcasing the best of Dublin City as a thriving and supporting ecosystem for Startups. The week is led by local entrepreneurs and will draw on the strength of community builders who work with startups through training, accelerators, financing, mentoring, networking and provision of enterprise space. For anyone thinking of starting a business, this week presents a fantastic opportunity to participate in innovative events and to hear from supporter organisations, influencers and startup entrepreneurs.”

Techstars Startup Week has taken place in 57 countries, hosted 100,000 participants globally in 2017, and now Dublin is joining this global event series in November. TechStars itself now encompasses 44 separate programs covering six continents and a large number of industry verticals. The firm has hundreds of employees across its headquarters and member programs, and more than 1,600 portfolio companies.

Techstars Startup Week was created to inspire and strengthen entrepreneurial communities through a 5 day series of free networking events, keynotes, panel discussions and workshop sessions on topics such as getting started, joining a tech startup, finding funding, how to build your team and how to promote diversity in a startup . Events also include mentoring sessions with CEOs, investors and more.

“If you’ve been thinking about beginning a startup, want to jump into a high growth company or run your own company then Startup Week Dublin is designed for you as it showcases the people and places that can help you take that next best step”, Gene Murphy, E.I.R., Bank of Ireland and Co-Organiser of Startup Week Dublin.

Over the course of five days, those interested in Techstars Startup Week Dublin, powered by Dublin City Council, can choose events they want to attend and then connect, share, learn and collaborate with other participants.

"When I look at all the startup ecosystems across the globe, the entrepreneurial community in Dublin stands out as one of the top in terms of educating its participants about what it takes to create a thriving business. I'm incredibly excited that Techstars Startup Week will now be a part of that education process and will play a big role in bringing more people into the Dublin startup ecosystem", Matthew Helt, Program Director, Techstars Startup Week.

Events will be held at various venues across Dublin City. Speakers from the community, and outside it, will be brought in to share their story, to motivate and to inspire the entrepreneurial community. Local organisers have selected the following five tracks which they feel are relevant to the community and a present, they are lining up local and international guests based on those tracks.

1. Entrepreneurship 101 Track

2. Diversity and Inclusion Track

3. Design Track

4. Developer Track

5. Future Track

Events are designed to take place at times that suit participants who are currently working but they wish to learn how to start a business, take part in an intensive workshop or join a fast paced company, with events taking place in early morning, lunch times and evenings.

Steven O’Gara, Senior Economic Development Officer with Dublin City Council said: “Last year saw a record number of startups created in Dublin with 22,354 new companies formed. Local Government is supporting this activity through initiatives such as the Local Enterprise Office (LEO). In 2017, the LEO network nationally, directly invested €16m in over 1100 start-up projects, which in turn supported the creation of 3,760 new jobs. Dublin City Council is proud to build on this activity by powering Startup Week Dublin and enabling increased entrepreneurial activity which is so critical to the regional and national Economy.”
